How Do Roots Vacuum Pumps Work?

Roots Vacuum Pumps (Roots Pumps), also known as Mechanical Booster Pumps (MB), achieve high speed rotation to produce large displacement pumping through the synchronized reverse rotation of a double or triple lobe rotor, which together with the pump body forms a space. Within the range of 1000~0.1Pa, its pumping speed exceeds that of the backing pump, enhancing suction and forming a pressurization effect, analogous to automobile turbocharging.

The pumping speed of a Roots vacuum pump is affected by length, rotational speed, diameter, clearance and air pressure. In terms of unit conversion, 1L/s is equal to 3.6m³/h.
